02 May SPOTLIGHT ON: GUCCI – RESTAURANTER
Following the path of other luxury houses that have extended their offers to fine-dining restaurants such as Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Dior, and Ralph Lauren, the famous Italian luxury brand Gucci has recently revealed Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura, a new place on the gastronomy scene in Florence headed by triple-starred Michelin chef Massimo Bottura.
Alessandro Michele, Creative director for Gucci, is a creative mind behind this unique project; marrying fashion, interior design and gastronomy within one vibrant conceptual experience. For this venture, Michele has redesigned the historic Palazzo della Mercanzia in Florence, which dates back to 1337. Besides Gucci Osteria, Gucci Garden houses a boutique with one-of-kind products, a Gucci museum and archives area, a phantasmagorical souvenir shop and a bookstore.
Osteria Gucci serves an eclectic menu influenced by Bottura’s travels. The 50-seat restaurant includes Italian dishes like Parmigiano Reggiano tortellini and mushroom risotto, but also Peruvian-inspired tostadas and pork belly buns. With Gucci Garden, Alessandro Michele wanted to pay homage to Florence, while for Bottura, Gucci Osteria is a reminder that Florence has always been a centre of cultural exchange, particularly during the Renaissance.
